Other UK Visas
What are the Other UK Visas ?

Settlement / Right of Abode
If you are the spouse, unmarried partner or civil partner of a UK passport holder (be them abroad or present and settled in the UK) you may qualify for Settlement. A successful applicant having satisfied the strict requirements will gain a visa for two years, after which they may apply for Idefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK. Under current citizenship rules you may then apply for a British Passport after one year of (ILR).
The Right of Abode visa is for all intents and purposes a British passport in a "foreign" passport. If you can evidence having a parent born in the UK and meet the criterion you may be able to apply for Right of Abode. If granted you can in future apply for a British Passport. Under specific circumstances you may even be able to apply for a British passport before departing your country by applying to your local British "outpost".
The rules relating to these visa types / British Citizenship are complex, to make sense of them contact Voyage or email info@voyagerelocations.com
Spousal / Dependants
If you are the spouse, unmarried partner, child or civil partner of a qualifying UK visa holder then you may be able to apply as the dependent to the "primary" visa holder. Qualifying visa types may include; all Tier 1 visa holders, Tier 2 Visa holders, many Tier 4 visa holders and UK Ancestral visa holders. Importantly Tier 5 Youth Mobility and tourist / UK visitor visa holders cannot include dependants with their applications.
Dependent applications can be made at the time of the primary applicants' submission or after the primary applicant visa has been granted. Successful applications will contain specific and exhaustive evidence under this category to meet the criterion and importantly unmarried partners must evidence two years cohabitation.
If successful the applicant will be granted a visa in line with the expiry date of the primary visa holder. In most cases the new visa holder will be able to live and work in the UK without restriction (other than the recourse of public funds).
